Bbc News Presenter Clive Myrie

This week, Rob is joined by Clive Myrie, a BBC News presenter and journalist. Clive is a frequent evening presenter on the BBC News Channel and News at Ten. Throughout his career, he has worked in broadcast news and journalism, nearly solely for the BBC. He began his career in local news before being sent as a foreign reporter to Japan, America, France, and Africa. Since becoming one of the BBC's primary London anchors, he has continued to provide special stories on a variety of themes, from Barack Obama to the conflicts in Kosovo and Afghanistan. Along with discussing his life and profession, Clive offers some of his favorite classical music throughout the week, including works by Schubert and Mussorgsky that he performed as a youngster in his local youth orchestra.

He told the Guardian: "âIt doesn't disturb me at all. What disturbs me is the widespread perception that we live in a society where some people believe racism is imaginary or just exists in their heads, and I believe it is a view that must be combated."

However, he cautions that in the UK, a culture of âsilo thinkingâ and the âneed to have your beliefs reinforced rather than challengedâ is âon the march.

âI travelled the length and breadth of the country during the 2019 election campaign, from County Durham to Southampton, Enniskillen to Pembrokeshire, and encountered people on the right who would gladly watch a British equivalent of Fox News, and those on the left who would gladly watch a British equivalent of MSNBC.

He has reported from all around the globe, covering everything from Middle East conflicts to American elections, from President Bill Clinton's impeachment to general elections.

Clive presently hosts BBC News at Ten on Fridays, after spells on BBC Weekend News and weekend versions of BBC News at Ten and BBC Breakfast.
