Boudin Clam Chowder Bread Bowl

I've eaten clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl in San Francisco, and it was far better. Even Sweet Tomatoes/Soup Plantation serves far superior clam chowder. I understand there is a difference between fresh and preserved products, but I anticipated a better flavor. Overall, it was superior than your normal preserved clam chowder, but I found it to be overly salty. I was only able to consume one little bowl of it. Perhaps if I had eaten it from a bread dish, it would have tasted better...

This is where the majority of people dine since it is convenient to order, wait for your meal, and then find a seat at one of the several tables scattered around. If you sit near the steps, you may even see portions of the bread baking process. Additionally, you can get cans of the famed clam chowder here, as well as some of the animal-shaped bread that has been popular in recent years. I kept it basic and chose a bread bowl of clam chowder. I like their cuisine here, and despite the fact that it is touristy and there are better places to get clam chowder, it is a wonderful San Francisco experience that will not disappoint.

In essence, San Francisco clam chowder is a creamy New England clam chowder served in a sourdough bread bowl. It is the sourdough that distinguishes this meal as a west-coast rather than an east-coast dish. According to legend, the original sourdough bread bowl + clam chowder combination was created at San Francisco eatery Boudin, which is still open and operating along Fisherman's Wharf. (Plus, they're now a chain, which means we can eat Boudin clam chowder in San Diego if we want, but the experience isn't quite the same.) I like Yukon Gold potatoes since I believe they have the finest taste and texture. If your grocery shop does not have them or they do not seem especially appetizing, russets might be an acceptable substitute. Bacon, bacon. âNot much more to say. Consider those lovely bread bowls (officially referred to as bread boules, which translates to âbread ballâ in French). So crunchy. So delectable. With any bread, I usually suggest freezing it immediately if you are not going to consume it immediately. Fresh bread spoils rapidly (yes, even when employing the towel technique), and chilling destroys the texture of fine bread.
