Dave Grohl John Bonham Tattoo

Touring and traveling As was the case with the majority of punk and underground artists in the 1980s, I had no ambitions to make a profession out of it. When. When I was in my late teens, the prize was just any type of audience acknowledgment. At the very least, I hoped that one day I would no longer be required to work at the furniture factory where I was employed and would have my own apartment. Traveling at that age [with the Washington punk band Scream] is a magical period in anyone's life. You're discovering your identity, reclaiming some of your independence, and evolving into who you are. Thus, it was the ideal moment to go from home and begin travelling the globe. I began traveling at the age of 18, carrying my belongings in a bag, sleeping on floors, and budgeting seven dollars a day for smokes and Taco Bell. I was receptive to new experiences.

Rarely in rock history has a performer shifted bands and instruments with as ease as Dave Grohl.

Grohl was born in Washington, D.C. on January 14, 1969. He taught himself to play drums and guitar while listening to heavy metal artists such as Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Motrhead, and Black Sabbath, as well as punk acts such as Black Flag, the Germs, Bad Brains, and the Stooges. He joined his first genuine band, independent D.C. punks Scream, as a teenager and traveled the globe as their drummer. After Scream disbanded in the late 1980s, Grohl came to Seattle and auditioned for a drum position with a little-known band called Nirvana.

Hachette Books described the late legend as âone of the greatest drummers in rock history, and a genuine wild man of epic (and sadly fatal) proportions.â Bonham began drumming at the age of five and, despite never taking formal lessons, began drumming for local bands immediately after graduating from secondary school. By the late 1960s, Bonham was seeking for a more stable career to help support his expanding family. Meanwhile, after the disbandment of the Yardbirds, lead guitarist Jimmy Page sought new musicians to assist him in recording an album and touring Scandinavia as the New Yardbirds. âA few months later, Bonham was persuaded to join the band that would ultimately become known as Led Zeppelin - and by the end of the year, Bonham and his three comrades had become the world's wealthiest rock band. As Adam Budofsky, managing editor of Modern Drummer, put it, 'If Elvis Presley was the king of rock 'n' roll, then John Bonham was unquestionably the king of rock drumming.'

Oh, really nice! Aaron, Can you think of a concert you saw as a spectator that had a profound effect on your life? We began traveling when we were around eighteen, and as a result, we missed a lot. I've never seen any of my favorite bands perform live before. I saw Ryan Adams perform four or five years ago in Salt Lake City and it was a really amazing night for me. However, I've never seen any of the songs that motivated me to death, such as the Foo Fighters and early U2. I've performed at a few festivals and saw the Foo Fighters from the side of the stage, as well as opening for them. That was rather impressive. However, I was never able to sit in the chairs and experience it. U2 conducted a Joshua Tree tour, which I missed entirely due to another tour.
