Tanjirou Kamado lives on a distant mountain with his destitute family. As the eldest sibling, he was charged with the burden of ensuring his family's survival after his father's death. On a frigid winter day, he travels to the next town to sell some charcoal. As nightfall approaches, he is compelled to spend the night in the home of a curious man who warns him of weird monsters that prowl the night: vicious demons ravenous for human blood. When Tanjirou finally returns home, his biggest dread comes true. Except for his sister Nezuko, who has transformed into a flesh-eating monster, his whole family has been mercilessly slain. Engulfed in wrath and misery, Tanjirou makes a desperate attempt to stop Nezuko from hurting others, embarking on a quest to revenge his family and discover a means to revert his beloved sister to human form.
