When I inquired about the series's inclusion of Casey Jones, Nieli said, "Casey Jones will appear in the second season," adding that he didn't want to give too much away but that "we'll take our time presenting him." After being cast, Koteas underwent martial arts instruction, however he stayed with the fundamentals. (âIt wasn't as if I was this high-kicking karate man, you understand? You make do with what you have.â) As it turned out, the most challenging aspect of filming was interacting with Henson's intricate mechanical puppets. âYou may have to repeat it 16 times before they get it technically correct. Thus, it was a struggle to stay inquisitive and engaged as they worked out the mechanics of the turtles' heads and all these other details,â he remembers. However, it was enjoyable. Today marks the 30th anniversary of the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film! To mark the occasion, NECA has produced a new picture gallery for their forthcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990 Film) â Casey Jones and Trench Coat Raphael 7â3 Scale Figure 2-Pack. This set, along with the forthcoming Super shredder and Tokka and Rahzar 2-Pack, will be a Walmart exclusive. It was initially scheduled for a second-quarter release, but there is no news on whether that remains the case. Casey Jones comes with interchangeable hands, a hockey stick, a goalie stick, a golf club, and a baseball bat, as well as a bag to transport the weapons. In case you're wondering, the mask is not detachable. Raphael comes with a detachable cloth trench coat, bag, headgear, two sais, a pizza slice, interchangeable hands, and a baseball bat. He eventually becomes a vigilante, hunting criminals, mutants, and anything else he believes is a danger to "his" city, in season two's episode "The Good, The Bad, and Casey Jones," and becomes an ally of the turtles, particularly Raphael, who becomes his closest friend. He also has an adversarial relationship with Donatello as a result of their shared love for April. Casey also has a proclivity for third-person narration and a dread of rats, which includes Splinter to a degree. As the season proceeds, his animosity with Donatello diminishes, and he develops a greater affinity for the whole squad. In season three's "Casey Jones VS. The Underworld," Casey resolves to go after crime on his own and meets Hun, the new commander of the Purple Dragons. He is first beaten, but subsequently beats Hun, therefore extending Shredder's objectives. He is subsequently one of only six Earthlings—along with April and the Turtles—who are saved before the world is destroyed by an artificial black hole.

I received an advanced reader copy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Casey & April by Mariko Tamaki from netgalley.com in exchange for an honest evaluation and feedback. I was not specially chosen to read this title by Diamond Book Distributors or IDW, since it was open to all reviewers via the Read Now program. The following are just my own thoughts. The work is pleasant yet unpretentious. The layouts are plain and clear, often omitting elaborate backgrounds in favor of simple gradients. I believe the best way to characterize it is as attractive or somewhat endearing artwork. Surprisingly, the cover art matches the inside art, so you can instantly view a sample.
According to the character's original creators (Kevin Eastman), they intended for Casey to become a vigilante as a result of watching too many bad cop shows (as Peter Laird did), as implied by the character's first appearance in Raphael #1 (1985), rather than the more overused storyline in which the hero becomes a vigilante after witnessing his family being murdered in front of him. This is somewhat rectified when writer Tristan Huw Jones imported the backstory to his 2003 television series in Tales issue #56. [edit] Beginnings
Redeeming Characteristics
There are several amusing moments, such as Michelangelo attempting to eat a hard pizza and then tossing it at Raphael like a frisbee. The songs used in this film are rather enjoyable to listen to, particularly Tarzan Boy during the scene in which Casey takes the four Feudal Japanese warriors to a bar. There are several sweet moments, such as Raphael acting as Yoshi's older brother. Except for the Turtles themselves, some of the acting is rather good.

Long-time Ninja Turtles fans will rejoice at the triumphant return of a particular hockey-masked hero in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (in theaters June 3). The character of vigilante sidekick Casey Jones, played in the upcoming film by Arrow's Stephen Amell, was created on the big screen by Elias Koteas in the 1990 blockbuster Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In August 2014, two years before the Casey-less TMNT remake hit cinemas, Chicago P.D. actor Koteas chatted with Yahoo Movies about his experiences of working with huge turtle puppets. Below is an edited version of the interview.
