[edit] Plot Howard Langston, a workaholic Minneapolis mattress salesman, loves his wife, Liz, and nine-year-old son, Jamie, but is often portrayed negatively by his neighbor, divorced Ted Maltin, who holds unrequited emotions for Liz. After missing Jamie's karate class graduation, Howard tries to make up by granting Jamie's Christmas demand for an action figure of Turbo-Man, a famous television superhero, despite Liz's request two weeks before, which Howard forgot about. On Christmas Eve, Howard attempts to purchase the toy but discovers that all stores have sold out, sparking a competition with Myron Larabee, a postal worker parent with the same aim.
